Directs and supervises through Maintenance Supervisors, contractor’s workforce engaged in maintenance, installation, fabrication, modification & other shutdown activities carried out on all above-sea level offshore structures/plants. Ensures adherence to Company’s established procedures and approved engineering standards.
(Work covers maintenance of all offshore plants, equipment and structural installations in Umm Shaif, Zakum & Das Island).
Participates in the development and implementation of corrosion mitigation and control activities related to design and development projects associated with the Company’s oil and gas production, pressure maintenance, transport and export. Carry out corrosion inspection on pipelines, well casing/tubing, and performs failure investigations related to corrosion attacks on wells, processing, transmitting and storage facilities. Contributes to the development of Company’s policy on corrosion control end advise on its proper implementation. Ensures that all corrosion mitigation measures are consistently applied in accordance with accepted practices and standards.
Participates during all phases of engineering development, design and commissioning of projects to ensure effective implementation of Company policies and the strategies on various aspects of metallurgical and corrosion engineering for all major and minor projects executed by the projects group. Provides the specialist services to ensure that a state-of-the-art technology is applied in material selection, inspection and quality control, welding and provision of appropriate corrosion control measure involving cathodic protection, coating / painting and chemical treatment.
Work in very close cooperation with Head of Mechanical Engineering Department and maintain close co-ordination at appropriate level with Project Execution, QA/QC, Procurement & Control Departments of Project group and Plant Operations, Pipeline Operations, Technical Services, sister Companies and outside specialist agencies.
Provides back-up/ support/ advice to Asset Units on conditions of all offshore oilfield and Das Island plants and equipment, structures and facilities installed above sea-level in the assigned field to ensure engineering integrity and that such equipment is maintained in good serviceable condition. Inspects all new plants and equipment received in Abu Dhabi to be installed offshore, and all others received from offshore for overhaul, modification and fabrication works to be carried out in Abu Dhabi. Assesses safe-working life/durability of such plants and equipment.
[Inspection activities cover all offshore plants/ equipment/ structures installed above sea-level in the assigned field and all above sea-level equipment received in Abu Dhabi to be installed offshore or for maintenance works. Annual inspection service budget is approximately US$2/- M.]
Provides technical advice and guidance to all Company Divisions/ Asset Units on all relevant engineering aspects, performs technical assessment and specifies corrective remedial Asset Units action, performs technical audits and initiates recommendations to Company Management, prepares scope of work and technical data for tenders, evaluates the technical submission of tenders, checks and approves the contractor’s performance and certifies satisfactory completion of work. Acts as Company technical advisor relating to the Subsea Pipelines and risers.
[Work covers all Subsea pipelines (325 Nos) of various sizes ranging from 2” to 48” totaling to 1520 Kms plus 622 risers].
Provides support and advice to Asset Units on conditions of all Company’s subsea installations/structures, such as: subsea lines & risers, platforms, well-head towers, tanker-berths and flare structures. Prepares and produces technical inspection reports and recommends remedial actions. Directs and controls the activities of the contracted Diving Support Vessel and Remote Operated Vehicles (ROV) campaigns. Ensures that Contractors adhere to terms and provisions of contract and evaluates performance.
