? Establish the processes and framework to assess the research and development needs of the Emirate and supervise this assessment of the labour market, education sector and economy; ? Lead research into key industry areas, universities, international organisations and other potential investors based on the identified research needs of the Emirate; ? Establish relationships with those industries, universities and organizations, through coordination with the communications and public relations team where appropriate, and encourage the development of partnerships for new research opportunities matching the needs of both parties; ? Promote research and development opportunities through regular communication of opportunities and encourage skill sharing amongst research stakeholders to develop inter-university research projects, and partnerships between university researchers and international organisations; ? Collaborate with career counselors, teachers and professors to promote interest in research for students in secondary and tertiary education and develop a framework of best practice for the promotion of opportunities to students based on international benchmarks; ? Promote the availability of scholarships and grant opportunities to universities and external organisations to encourage research involvement and liaise with the Funding Section on unusual requirements for specific research projects; ? Ensure the continual monitoring by research and development specialists of the success of research programs such that assistance can be provided to maintain relationships, provide funding or give direction to sustain programs; ?
